High polished pewter triscel on silver-plated snake chain.

The triscele is commonly found in late Celtic art and is thought to have some Roman influence, although fine examples are found in the native art of Ireland and Scotland. It is thought to represent the three realms of Celtic lore: the past, the present and the future. One of the most popular of Ancient Celtic designs, it survived well into the Christian period, probably because it could also be considered to represent the Holy Trinity.

Pewter pendant on adjustable black leather thong. The ogham inscription reads: Blessed be.

The alphabet of the oghams is also known under the name of oghm, oghaim or ogam, and was created, according to legend, by Ogma (Celtic god Ogmios), god of knowledge. Inscriptions in ogham characters are only found in the British Isles. There are about 350 known inscriptions carved between 300 & 700 AD. Ogham is really an alphabetic code rather than an alphabet. There were four groups of five letters in the system but later five more signs were added to represent dipthongs. The inscriptions themselves had a central stem from which short staves went left, right or crossed. Although many were magical, most were memorial or invocatory.

According to legend, Lyonesse lay between Cornwall and the Scilly Isles and contained 140 villages and churches. Local tradition has it that fishermen still find parts of old buildings in their nets and the church bells still ring in stormy seas. When Lyonesse sank beneath the waves, the only survivor was Trevelyan of Basil who was on the back of a swimming horse.

The earliest known references to King Arthur are associated with ancient Celtic mythology and so it is perhaps understandable that the name of Merlin was interwoven into Arthurian legend, and reflected the Celtic mystic beliefs. Merlin, also known as Myrddin and Merlinus, was often perceived as a wizard or magician. Amongst his powers he had the gift of clairvoyancy and foretold of King Arthur's rule over England.

On the 5th July, 2009, whilst metal-detecting on farmland in southern Staffordshire, Terry Herbert began to unearth the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon treasure ever found. Comprising over 1500 items in gold, silver and other alloys and valued at £3.3 million, the collection is thought to date back to the late 7th and early 8th centuries. St Justin has recreated history by producing items inspired by this amazing find.
